Upon entering Rex Putnam High School, each student is assigned a counselor who meets with the student when appropriate throughout the years of attendance. Students are invited to consult with their counselor or any other member of the counseling staff whenever they need assistance. Parents are always cordially invited to consult with a counselor concerning their student. Conferences with students, parents, teachers, and counselors are often helpful in giving information, planning, and formulating goals and objectives.

Primary Goal: To provide the guidance, counseling, and support necessary for students to be successful in the academic, social/personal, and career planning areas of their lives.

Student counseling services are concerned with:

1. Personal/Crisis counseling

2. Assisting every student in planning a four-year program of studies

3. Providing college/career education planning and assistance

4. Helping students navigate testing needed for their future

5. Providing information about post high school opportunities.

6. Helping students make decisions.
